
TikTok under fire: court confirms unlawful transfer of personal data

TikTok has once again been found at fault in a major privacy case. The Irish court has confirmed that the platform breached the GDPR by transferring personal data of European users to China without ensuring adequate safeguards. It is noteworthy that the supervisory authority must once again examine the precise measures, as the court finds that insufficient explanation has been provided as to why TikTok’s own “solutions” are inadequate.
However, this does not alter the core issue: TikTok has systematically failed to ensure that European data is secure outside the EU.
